Vibe Coding Junior

Ages 10 to 12In preparation

Your own browser adventure.

You come up with a story. Then you turn it into a game with scenes, decisions and points. What happens if someone chooses a different path? When is a point awarded? And how do you find out why a button does not work yet?

In small steps you keep building your project. You try things out, explain your idea and check whether the game reacts the way you planned.

Status: In preparation. Registration is not yet possible. Scope and schedule are planning figures that will be checked in the pilot.

What you will build

You build the browser adventure Lichtpfad with six scenes: forest gate, workshop, jetty, tower and two different endings. Decisions lead to different paths, and fitting decisions earn points. A restart resets the story and the points. You may change the texts, colours and design. Only invented details are used for the game.

Age and requirements

  • Ages 10 to 12. You should be able to read, write short texts and use a browser window.
  • A laptop or desktop computer with a current browser. A terminal is not needed.
  • A responsible accompanying adult, a quiet online working time and breaks.
  • No programming knowledge is needed. The accompanying adult helps with language and handling, but does not take over the child's task.

What you will learn

  • Break a game idea down into individual steps.
  • Describe a task so that another person understands it.
  • Work with decisions and simple rules.
  • Build an interface with understandable buttons and texts.
  • Observe, describe and gradually fix errors.
  • Explain what you changed yourself and how your game works.

The six steps

  1. Idea and game planBreak the story down into six scenes and their decisions. Planned: 1.5 hours.
  2. Scenes and decisionsBuild the scenes and connect their paths. Planned: 2 hours.
  3. Points and game rulesAward points, catch double clicks and check the restart. Planned: 2 hours.
  4. Understandable interfaceReadable texts, clear buttons and use with the keyboard. Planned: 2 hours.
  5. Finding and fixing errorsDescribe an error, correct it and check the affected paths again. Planned: 2 hours.
  6. Own extension and project presentationImplement and test a small new task and explain the game. Planned: 2.5 hours including the final assessment.

Time required

About 12 hours are planned, spread over several short sessions. The project presentation at the end is included; no additional exam time is added. The times are planning figures and will be measured in the pilot.

For parents and teachers

Junior is a guided online offer. An adult handles the actual use of the AI tool. The child works with prepared examples and their own project. In this course, children do not use their own Claude or ChatGPT accounts or shared adult logins.

Before the start, accompanying adults receive a short introduction, the tasks and tips for support. The exact supervision model and the time needed will be checked in the pilot. The standard offer does not promise continuous one-to-one support from the academy.

The learning area is being planned without public profiles of children. Projects are only shared within the agreed circle. A public showcase is optional and needs a separately approved process.

Completion

At the end, the child presents their game, explains a decision and shows a small change of their own. Assessment follows understandable criteria. On successful completion, the BUILT IN CLASS Junior project certificate for Vibe Coding Junior is planned. It names the project and the Junior skills that were assessed.

This certificate is a Junior qualification in its own right and not a Foundation certificate for teenagers or adults.

What is included and costs

The price will follow after the pilot run. A one-off course price without a subscription is planned: access to the agreed course version, the six steps with tasks and project templates, a final assessment and, if passed, the Junior project certificate. Ongoing support is provided by an adult at home or at school.

We will only publish price, start date and supervision model after approval. Until then there is no booking and no waiting list with a guaranteed place.

Frequently asked questions

Does my child need to know how to program already?

No. They should be able to read, write short texts and use a browser window. The accompanying adult helps with language and handling, but does not take over the child's task.

Does the course take place on site?

A purely online format is planned. Support can be provided by a responsible person at home or in a school setting.

Can my child publish applications on their own afterwards?

The course covers a manageable practice project. Publishing, accounts and other people's data are not an automatic next step. The project is first used in the intended learning environment.
